Not every booking on my calendar is a wedding. Proms, galas, milestone birthdays, holiday parties, a big date night, they all come with the same question: how do I look like the best version of myself in every photo tonight? Special occasion makeup gets less attention than bridal work on most artists' websites, mine included until now, so here's how it actually works.
Prom is the one people ask about most, but it's really one entry in a much longer list. Galas, black-tie fundraisers, milestone birthdays like a 30th or a 50th, holiday parties, anniversary dinners, and portrait sessions all fall under the same category for me. The common thread isn't the event type, it's that the makeup needs to hold up under photography and last through several hours of an evening you can't redo.
Special occasion makeup usually goes a step past what someone would wear day to day, more defined eyes, a bolder lip, more staying power built in, but it's not the same booking as a wedding. There's no trial required, no all-day timeline to coordinate with a photographer, and no bridal party to schedule around. It's a single application, built for one specific night, which makes it a faster and simpler process to book than bridal work. That said, the same long-wear techniques apply. Special occasion bookings don't need the weeks of advance planning a wedding does, but popular dates still fill up. Prom season and the December holiday party stretch are my two busiest windows, so if your event falls in either, book a few weeks out rather than a few days. For everything else, two to three weeks ahead is usually enough to guarantee your preferred time.
A full face for a special occasion runs $175, the same base rate as my bridal service, since it's the same full application either way. If you only want eye makeup done, that's $75. A touch-up visit later in the night is $50, and Ardell lash application adds $25. There's no trial fee here since special occasion bookings don't include one.
